About the Architectural Wire Models
Many
people have trouble reading and understanding the spaces and forms
represented by architectural documents. The problem is compounded
with drawings of curvilinear shapes. After years of experimentation,
I finally found a simple way to represent complex shapes by using
a series of curved florist's wires.
White
represents the shell, while green is used for landscape berming. Each
client receives both plans and a wire model at the completion of the
schematic design phase of a project. The model provides a simple way
to understand the overall shape of the structure, how the building
meets the earth and the relationship of the interior spaces to the
shell. - JZ
